Calabrian Chili Garlic Bread

Some like it hot… and i am not talking about the Marilyn Monroe film…

I am talking about my new favorite way to enjoy garlic bread by adding some spice!

This bread is perfect for your next dinner party.

Tips to Make Spicy Homemade Garlic Bread;

  1. I love using ciabatta bread for garlic bread. This holey bread… literally, its full of holes, is terrific because the garlicky butter can pool in all of those holes. Holy cow. Yum.

  2. Lets talk Calabrian Chili: This adds a nice spicy element to this garlic bread with a little tang. finely slice whole chilis and spread them evenly.

  3. Roast your garlic. Don’t sub with garlic powder. Just make the time to roast and you will be grateful.

Calabrian Chili Garlic Bread

Ingredients

  • 6 TBS unsalted butter, softened at room temperature

  • 2 heads of large garlic, roasted

  • 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil

  •  Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan, adjust more to your preference

  • 1 TBS jarred Calabrian chilis, finely diced

  • 1 Ciabatta loaf

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and bring out your butter to room temperature if you haven’t already.

  2. Take your garlic, and slice off the top of the head, drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper, and cover completely with aluminum foil. I place them each in ramekins so they don’t topple over.

  3. Roast in the oven for 45 minutes until softened, roasted with a nice browning to it. Remove your garlic from the oven and set aside to cool, keep the oven on and adjust to 350 degrees.

  4. In the meantime, once your butter has come to room temperature, transfer it to a small bowl. Mix in chopped parsley, grated parmesan, Calabrian chili paste, and season with salt and pepper. Squeeze your roasted garlic in the mixture as well. Stir well until combined.

  5. Take your ciabatta bread and slice it into crostini’s, or rounds. Transfer to a lined baking sheet with parchment paper.

  6. Spread your butter mixture all throughout the bread, topping with parmesan cheese. Toast in the oven at 350 for about 10 to 15 minutes until the baguette gets toasty. Make sure that it does not get burned and it still remains soft on the inside. We want the butter mixture to be melted. Remove and top with more parmesan. Serve!
